CONTEXT

Administrative/Biographical history:

St John's was built by private subscription, on land given by Joseph Baxendale in 1832, as a chapel of ease to Finchley. In 1836 it became a district chapelry and in 1876 a parish. The church was enlarged in 1879 and 1898. It has no burial ground.

Records of the parish of Saint John the Apostle, Whetstone, including registers of baptisms, marriages, burials, banns of marriage, and church services; financial accounts; Vestry and Parochial Church Council minutes; altar books and missal.
