Administrative/Biographical history:

In 1906 Golden Hope Rubber Estate Limited was registered to acquire the Golden Hope estate, near Klang, Selangor, Malaya. The company took over:
Selaba Rubber Estates Limited (1928),
Balgownie Rubber Estates Limited (1929),
Tai Tak Plantations Limited (1950),
Lumut Rubber Estates Limited (1952),
Klanang Bahru Syndicate Limited (1955),
New Crocodile River (Selangor) Rubber Company Limited (1959),
Bukit Kajang Rubber Estates Limited (1961/2),
Straits Plantations Limited (1962), and
Prang Besar Rubber Estate Limited (1962).

In 1963 its name was changed to Golden Hope Plantations Limited. The company was purchased by Harrisons Malaysian Estates Limited (CLC/B/112-079) in 1977, and it became resident in Malaysia for tax purposes. In April 1982 it became a private company.

Records of Golden Hope Plantations Limited, rubber estates management, including articles of association; minute books; annual reports; circulars to shareholders; financial accounts; and some papers of subsidiary Coconut Plantations of Perak Limited.

Immediate source of acquisition:

The records of Harrisons and Crosfield and its subsidiary and secretarial companies were transferred to Guildhall Library Manuscripts Section between 1990 and 1998. The records were presented as a gift to the Library, except the minute books of some subsidiary companies which are held as a deposit. The Guildhall Library Manuscripts Section merged with the London Metropolitan Archives in 2009.
