Immediate source of acquisition:
The first accession of these papers was given to the Contemporary Medical Archives Centre by Dr Van Heyningen in November 1979; and he gave further papers to the CMAC in February 1981. Additional material given to the Wellcome Unit for the History of Medicine, Oxford, was transferred to the Contemporary Medical Archives Centre in July 1996.
