Adriaan van Royen was a Dutch physician and botanist, MD at Leyden in 1728, and Professor of Medicine and Botany, from 1732 to 1754. He was the successor of Boerhaave as Director of the Botanical Garden.

Dictata in Materiam Medicam. These MSS. are probably scribal copies of lectures written for the use of students. Produced in Leyden, mid-18th century.

Armorial book-plate inside the upper cover of each volume, of George Paterson [1734-1817] of Castle Huntley, who had studied medicine at Edinburgh University, and is recorded as having been a student at Leyden in 1763: he does not appear however to have graduated.
