Scope and content/abstract:
Two letters from FM Sir Cyril John Deverell to Sandilands, relating to Deverell's dismissal as Chief of Imperial General Staff, 1937, written in 1945 and 1947. Associated correspondence, principally comprising letters from Professor James Ramsay Montagu Butler concerning the possible use of the above documents in the official History of the Second World War (HMSO, London, 1949-1988), 1952, 1960.

Papers of Gen Sir William Henry Bartholomew (GB99 KCLMA Bartholomew) include two letters from Deverell relating to senior army appointments, 1935-1936 (Ref: 2/4/1-2). Imperial War Museum has notebook kept by Deverell whilst commanding 20 Infantry Bde, 1916. National Army Museum has a collection of postcards and Christmas cards collected by Deverell, 1916-1919, while West Yorkshire Regiment Museum has a copy of account of Burma campaign, 1943-1945 (Ref: 421).
