In 1928 it became completely independent of the rest of the College and a School of the University of London, known as King's College of Household and Social Science University of London. In 1953 a Royal Charter was granted and the name changed to Queen Elizabeth College. In 1985 the College merged with King's College London and Chelsea College creating King's College London (KQC).
