CONTEXT
Administrative/Biographical history:
Queen Elizabeth College, which came into being with the granting of a Royal Charter in 1953, succeeded the Home Science and Economics classes of King's College Women's Department and King's College for Women, which started in 1908; the Household and Social Science Department of King's College for Women, which opened in 1915; and King's College of Household and Social Science, which operated from 1928. The amalgamation of the College with King's College London and Chelsea College was completed in 1985.

Queen Elizabeth College title deeds and other legal documents, 1911-1985, comprise endowment trust deeds, 1911-1960; licences for building work, building contracts and leases relating to College property, 1913-1946; copy of the 1953 Royal Charter and subsequent amendments and incorporating the College Statutes, 1953-1981; Queen Elizabeth College By-Laws, 1956-1976; official documents relating to the negotiations leading to the 1985 merger of Queen Elizabeth with King's College, 1983; register of the sealing of documents, 1953-1985.
