Administrative/Biographical history:
Elizabeth Gundrey (fl 1959-1975) was a journalist and author of 'Jobs for Mothers'. Prior to this Elizabeth wrote articles on the employment of middle class wives and on widowhood. She also wrote a paper for the National Economic Development Committee on recruitment and training of married women in the retail trade.

The archive consists of papers and correspondence about 'Jobs for Mothers', papers about widows, working mothers and others, press cuttings, working notes, replies to questionnaires and lists of publications on careers.

The archive was deposited in 1997 as an outright gift.; Additional material was found amongst 'unsorted archival miscellany' during the move of the Library into the new building, 2002, and formally accessioned, July 2003.
