Born, ; began his education at the nonconformist academy of Samuel Cradock BD at Wickhambrook, Suffolk; went to London, where he lodged with Edward Hulse MD of Aldermanbury; attended the University of Utrecht in 1692, presumably to study medicine; decided on a career in the church and entered St Edmund Hall, Oxford; 1697; domestic chaplain to Charles Talbot, Duke of Shrewsbury, who presented him with the living of Heythorpe rectory, Oxfordshire; Archdeacon of Oxford, 1704; accompanied Shrewsbury to Ireland, following Shrewsbury 's appointment as Lord Lieutenant, 1713; beneficiary of the Hanoverian succession; Bishop of Kilmore, 1715; Archbishop of Cashel, 1727; died, 1729.
