Administrative/Biographical history:
The key administrative functions of the College are carried out by the Registry, Secretariat, Estates, Finance and Personnel. The Academic Registrar, through the Board of Studies (later the Senate), administers academic matters, student admissions, the approval of courses and syllabuses and student records.The College Secretary services the Court and Council (formerly the Governing Body) and their associated committees.

Records of the Administration and Estates Departments of Imperial College, 1908-1991, comprising papers and correspondence relating to the reorganisation of the department, 1956-1957, computerisation of administrative records, 1973-1974 (GG); correspondence relating to the post of College Secretary, 1957-1962, Secretary's notes for Heads of Departments, 1983-1989 (GGB); correspondence relating to the appointment of staff, 1960, 1964 (GGBB); letters and press cuttings relating to the Imperial College management team, 1991 (GGC); correspondence concerning administrative staff salaries, 1964-1965 (GGD); papers concerning college buildings services, 1976, review of Estates section, 1978, organisation of the Planning office, 1957-1962 (GGH); minutes of the Maintenance Staff Committe, 1959-1970 (GGHA); correspondence and papers relating to college publications, 1948-1978 (GGP); papers relating to college stores, including lists and valuation, 1908, 1912, report of the working party, 1976 (GGS); correspondence concerning Telex system, 1965-1980, telephone services, 1967-1980, telephone directories, 1962-[1995] (GGT).
